The Sacramento Mineral Society takes pride in the shop facilities we have for use by our members,

with many very experienced craftsmen (and women) available to advise and assist.

We give great thanks to those members who act as Shop Stewards and keep the shop running.

Our shop is located at: 4205 LeMay St., Mather Field, Sacramento, California. (Map provided by MSN)

The Shop is open every Saturday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for rock cutting and cabochon making.

$7.00 shop fee per visit / $5.00 shop fee for juniors.

Lapidary Classes offered on a continuing basis with one-on-one instruction on the cabbing machines and trim saws to all new members.

Organized classes scheduled to begin in 2007.

Shop Facilities

The SMS has a finely equipped shop with friendly, helpful people.

For our members' use we have:

1 - 24" saw

1 - 20" slab saw

2 - 10" slab saws

2 - Crystallite grinding units

7 - Genie grinding and polishing units

Plus multiple trim saws and other polishing wheels.

Plans are in the works to add silversmithing equipment for full time use. This may include lost wax casting.

We have a fine collection of rocks and minerals gathered from field trips or donations to the club. You are certain to find just what your looking for (and maybe something you didn't know you were looking for) for your cabbing and/or collecting needs. The view at left is only a partial view of the goodies we have for selection in the yard.

Rocks are $.50/lb. to members, $1.00/lb. to non-members.
